Would you like to become a licensed ham radio operator?  In cooperation with the CWC Adult Education Center in Dubois, Wyoming, the FCACS will be offering classroom training.  The first class that will be offered is for those interested in taking the Technician Class license exam (the first level of licensure as a ham operator). Sign up on our mailing list to be notified when classes are ready for registration.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issues three types of amateur radio licenses: Technician, General, and Extra:

  • Technician: The entry-level license that allows you to transmit on VHF and UHF bands, which are commonly used for local area communications.
  • General: Allows you to operate all digital modes on HF, including FT8, and to operate SSB phone on HF bands below 28 MHz. You can also operate on the 20-meter band, which is good for making contacts with foreign stations.
  • Extra: The top-level license--lets you talk to the International Space Station!
