New adversarial strategy game brings realistic incident command experience to Fremont County volunteers
Fremont County Amateur Communications System (FCACS) is pleased to announce the addition of Emergency Operations Center: Chelsea County, USA – Complex Coordinated Attack 8 (CCA8) to our training resources. This advanced emergency management strategy game offers volunteers a hands-on, immersive way to practice Incident Command System (ICS) principles and emergency operations center procedures in a realistic, high-pressure environment.
FCACS volunteers are encouraged, but not required, to complete the following courses to build core competencies in incident management and emergency operations. These courses are available through two primary sources:
Online Independent Study (FEMA)
Complete these courses at your own pace through FEMA's Emergency Management Institute: https://training.fema.gov/nims/
Please join WY-ARES for a Zoom training session on Portable HF operations and NVIS antennas. The session will be recorded and available to view later if you are not able to attend. The primary audience for the presentation will be ARES members from the Wyoming Section, however please pass this invitation along to any amateurs that may be interested in attending.
Effective January 9, 2025, all donations to Fremont County Auxiliary Communications Service are fully tax-deductible! A giant THANK YOU to Fremont County Emergency Management Agency for arranging the lending of a former Fremont County CERT trailer to FCACS for repurposing to become a mobile auxiliary communications radio command center.
On January 17, 2025, the first of many planned nodes was brought online to provide AREDN (Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network) services in Fremont County. FCACS has adopted Mikrotik as its preferred brand of equipment due to its incredible reliability combined with extremely low costs. Four more nodes are planned for deployment by the end of March, 2025.
FCACS is actively researching the most practical way to deploy AREDN (Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network) technology in Fremont County. AREDN uses ham radio frequencies to greatly increase wireless networking range using the same fault-tolerant design as the Internet.
